Blender insallation

Hi

I am having a little difficulty installing blender on fedora core 3 . I am hoping this would be the right forum to come to for this problem

I initially tried to install two ways…the first via instructions from blender and secondly via yum. Both methods came up with errors.

In the yum installations i am getting this

–> Populating transaction set with selected packages. Please wait.
—> Package blender-debuginfo.i386 0:2.36-1.1.fc3.rf set to be installed
—> Package blender.i386 0:2.36-1.1.fc3.rf set to be installed
–> Running transaction check
–> Processing Dependency: libopenal.so.0 for package: blender
–> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: missing dep: libopenal.so.0 for pkg blender

Unfortunately there is not an awfull lot of information about this library. As a result i am stuck on the install…

I am using fedora core 3 with the latest kernal 2.6.10-1 766 and have a radeon 9800 card on board if that helps.

first, go install openal in you’re package manager, if that doesn’t work try compiling it from source, and as a last resort you could get the static version.

Thank you :expressionless:

why didnt i think of that…It works great…
