Blender interface font

I wasn’t sure whether to post this here or in the Technical Support section, seems to be a bit of both.

I was curious if Blender uses a specific common font for its interface, or if it uses a custom made font.
I’m working on a design for an image (non-commercial, personal use :p) and need to type some custom text in [preferably] Blender’s font style, unless that sort of thing is restricted for such uses.

Just wondering if anyone knew the answer to this.

Yes, I assume you are talking about the 3D text object you add to your scene. You can use any font stile you want. Just select Object Data button, under there you will fine Font input panel. Just call up the fount file from there.

I’m talking about the font used in the actual interface of Blender (2.5). The font used in buttons, menu titles, etc.

The Blender uses a specific .ttf font found in the source code directory blender-source-dir/release/datafiles

“Dejavu Sans.ttf” is the default font i think.
it cant be altered only before blender build has been build from source.
