How do I turn off that black sky?
here are the settings:

Not sure what you really want, so here goes a few possibilities:
- you can disable Sky rendering by de-activating the option in the Render Layers tab
- you can tune the background in the World buttons in order a more suitable color
- you could also render with a transparent/alpha background turning on RGBA instead of RGB in the Format panel, but I don’t know how it will be taken into account by the Quicktime format file…
hope you’ll find what you are interested in in any of these three answers I could instantly come with…
It’s the lights that are doing it. It’s almost like they are in a fog.
I am new to rendering in blender. =
That happens when I blow out the red ambient color. Does that help?

Could you try again and tell us more precisely what your problem is? I still don’t get your point…and olivS “stated the obvious”, which could be the solution to your problem.
moreover, generally speaking and according to my own point of view, Ambient Color is a deprecated method of illumination… you should not play with it, instead rely on other illumination methodes (the closest beng the hemi lamp, I guess)
I tried the ambient light to trouble shoot the problem.
Sky’s are off now but it is still happening,
even with a matt background color it still shows up
alpha’s would work okay if I was rendering out a tga sequence. But I am not,
Is there a way to turn the ground off?
Tell you what, how about I post the file? I am also getting some wierd clipping.
It’s the path curve, you have disabled ‘3D’ which makes it a solid object, so select the path curve, go to the edit tools (F9 key), and enable the ‘3D’ button in the ‘Curve and Surface’ panel.
Thank you! I appreciate that you took your time to solve this problem.
