Hi, everyone. I really need some help.
I bought the book called “The Essential Blender” and downloaded the latest version of Blender, and I thought I was all set… only the book didn’t cover the latest version of Blender, so I was completely lost. So I decided to uninstall Blender and install the older version that was on the disc that came with the book. But when I did, I had a new problem. The problem was, some keys that are supposed to perform vital functions, like the numpad-5 key, did not work. I looked at the black window with the white text in it, and it said that Blender was looking for a program called “python 2.5” but didn’t find it. I went online and downloaded Python 2.5, and the problems were resolved… for a while. Now the problems with the keys not working are back, even though I have Python installed! Why does Blender hate me so much? I have no idea what to do. Could someone please help me?
do you have numlock on or off that makes a vast difference.
Also don’t update python beyond the required version else you can break some things again.
Thank you. I never would have guessed the solution was so simple.
A full python install is only required for use with some scripts, so it not really neccessary to use blender. I would recommend dumping that version of blender and the book you are using, install the latest version (2.59) and start using the masses of currently up to date tutorials freely available online.
