I would really like to see this happen, as I Feel like the only person here using blender somedays and it would be great to have a meetup group. If you can help out that’s awesome and if your in Canberra and are interested give me a shout and we can get together and hopefully make it a real group.

Have you tried #b3d handle on social media? Twitter, Google+, Facebook, Sanpchat etc… Possibly with #canberra as well?
Thisold map shows at least 2 in the area. And the link here at BA shows some users.
The Brisbane Meetup is just run from the Meetup website for a gold coin donation each week. Hosted at a local University, although we did try the state library first but the parking had issues.
The school is a good location as it provides a projector but you can get by without one.
