I want to know if my version of blender is messed up or just my computer. I am rendering a frame with a cube with raytracing and a noise texture, the raytracying is turned on to like .35 but rendering frames takes like 3 - 12 mins to render a frame. very horrible, my computer should be able to render that quicker.
PC Specs:
1.83 ghz (AMD 2500+) (was 2.2 AMD 3200+)
512 Ram
blender version 2.42a
is my pc causing this problem?
3-12 minutes isn’t that long - however, we can’t really say anything if you don’t give us some more informations. Do you use AO, reflection maps and especially - what size are you rendering at?
Without knowing all this, I’d say that’s a reasonable time. Raytracing needs some computation, no way around it…
No AO, No EnvMaps rendersize 800x600 at 4 x and y parts
Not enough information. Is your cube highly subdivided? How many light sources do you have? If you think it may be some bug, post the .blend file and maybe someone can check their render times.
the raytracying is turned on to like .35
What does this even mean?
Post the .blend file and then we can check.
ok I will post the blend file soon,
but Raytracing at .35 just means that its only a little raytracing is used, .35 out of 1 I dont know if that makes any sense
I guess you mean raytraced reflections (the RayMir value in the Mirror Transp tab of the material buttons)?
The value of RayTransp or RayMirror has no effect on the speed - it’s whether it’s on or not that does.
