Blender models to Maya?

Hello:

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a Blender model into Maya?

I’m guessing it would have to be a plug in, but I don’t know of any.

Thanks.

the only way I know is to use blender export modules either lightwave object (*.lwo) or DXF. I guess *.3ds could be an idea, too.
As far as I remember these three file formats can be imported by Maya.

I just finished a firetruck in Blender that i imported into Maya PLE. ( http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64167 ) I exported using .3ds, .obj and .dxf; .obj worked best for me but I had major normal problems after importing. I used the stand alone FbxConverter.exe to convert it to .fbx before importing it into Maya. Somehow the materials were messed up, they were allied to the model correct but if you right clicked the material and selected Select Objects with Material Maya would not select them. I ended up remaking and reapplying the materials.

I frequently export between Maya and Blender (I dislike Maya’s UV tools and and generic smooth modifier). Your best bet is Blender’s .obj export assuming you are only exporting geometry and UVs. The only problem I’ve ever run into is that Blender points the y axis forward and the z axis up while Maya points the y axis up and the z axis forward. So you are going to have to rotate the mesh either 90 or 270 degrees depending on its orientation.

If you want to export a rigged or animated mesh, well then, I guess you and I are in the same boat without a paddle
