Blender Nerd Hiding UV Seams

No matter how well you unwrap your model you will always have a few spots where you can see a texture seam. It’s a common misunderstanding that hiding a texture seam is difficult and only for the pros, but really, it’s actually quite simple http://blendernerd.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

In this tutorial you’ll learn how to:

  • Properly unwrap a fairly complicated double-sided mesh
  • Fix texture*stretching
  • Use multiple UV maps in Cycles
  • Use texture painting
  • Get rid of texture seams caused by your UV map

I thought I would point out that after spending hours trying to figure out how to get rid of ugly seams on a character mesh of mine, I turned off “subdivide UVs” in the SubD modifier and tuned on full oversampling for both my material and BI and voila! No seams at all. Not sure if this is covered in the video, but it’s definitely a quick tip I would have loved to have seen somewhere.
