Blender noob gravity question

I have what would seem to be a simple goal. I would like to suspend a shape(the letter “L” shape) from a point at one end and let gravity hang it downward. I have created the shape and have gotten it to fall down with gravity, I just need to pin one end up, preferably so I can move the anchor point to see the change in how it hangs.

thanks

Rigid Body Constraints in the “Physics” tab.

Create a sphere.
Make it a rigid body, set the Type to “passive”.

Create a Cube, place it under the sphere.
Make it a rigid body, set the Type to “active”.

Select the sphere, add a “Rigid Body Constraint”.
Select the Type to be “point”
Object1: Sphere
Obeject2: Cube

Press alt+a and move the sphere.

Go from there.

However as I never used it, I don’t know how you pin the object to the point where you “attached” the invisible rope (the object center) and let gravity align it’s center of mass with it…
With the method above the object is hung through the object center and the object does not align itself to gravity, meaning if you move the object center to one of the top vertices of the cube, the top-plane of the cube is perpendicular to the “rope”… which is quite odd looking

Thank you, I’ll give it a try this evening.
