Blender: Noob to Pro help (again...)

I was doing that tutorial. Uhm, at that step where I’m supposed to mess with the IPO curve (“animation of the particle material”), I see no IPO curve. I did exactly as it said and changed the IPO type to material. Even added that eye thing next to it. Yet no curve?
Can someone help, please?

Does it not create the curve when you do the keyframing operations (see image). Make sure you have the object selected first.

That it does not. When I do click on the Alpha (key frame you called it?), it’s just greyed out. Then again, I don’t rightly remember whether I had the object selected. I reckon it could be the problem; I’ll get back to you if it is (or not).
