Blender not updating/responding without window relocation

My friend and I were recently getting back into some modelling and I downloaded Blender, and all worked fine. However, HE downloaded Blender, and the only way he could do anything to the program was if he first performed an action, and then moved the window, causing the program to update. This issue isn’t present in any other application, and both full-screen and windowed modes do the same thing. Not only would it be tedious to perform operation > drag window > repeat, it’s physically impossible to select things from drop-down lists as dragging the window closes the list. I’ve read through a few pages of the forums to no avail about the subject.

From what I know about his computer he’s running Windows 8 and has a fully OpenGL compatible card. Any thoughts as to why it’s doing this? :spin:

First thing to do with any draw errors is ensure you are using the latest graphics card drivers from the card manufacturers site (don’t just do an auto update, go and physically look on the website)
Also in the User Preferences / System panel try with VBOs on and off and the all different window draw methods
