Im using 2.5x I have a video… and some audio mixed in the sequencer. I have tried various combinations in codecs, etc to try to output this video, with sound. I can output it as avi video… without sound, but thats it.
What settings can I use to output this avi sequence so that I have a video with sound.? =(
When you select a movie output format no audio codec is set, so by default audio is disabled. In the render panel–>encoding–>audio coded change ‘none’ to a codec which is compatible with the container format (because ffmpeg will produce almost any combo but it might not playback) and also set appropriate sample and bit rates.
Blender is unlike other programs in many respects. You could set any defaults you like though: select a default audio codec and then Ctrl+U will save ensure that in all your future renders said audio codec will be used. It might be a good idea to try some of the presets though -most if not all are very generous regarding bitrates so chances are that they will suit your purposes.
Does anyone have a preferred setup? Ive tried different combination’s. Either the combination doesnt work, or the audio isnt on track with the video. I’ve done some searching, but really unable to come up with any good answers. Maybe im just headed in the wrong direction. Dunno.
@indyz2: Your not, it just does not work. I posted the bug to the developers (with detailed example files) and got several long winded replies about why it really is working and there is nothing wrong with the system.
“Well…the people say otherwise developers.”
2.5 sound does not even work as well as 2.49 sound does. Ouch, that’s gotta hurt.
@indyz2: like I said in an earlier post, try some of the presets. The settings might not be optimal but most of the time they work. @Atom: everything works as expected on my linux system. What I truly miss audio-wise is the old simple ctrl+click f-curve functionality.
works as expected on my linux system.
I think that is a big part of the problem. The audio developer does not use Mac or Windows. Or work in real-world conditions where proof that the sound work actually takes the form of multiple audio tracks over minutes of time rather a simple single track 10 second example.
My biggest problem is with synch. The audio just falls out of synch over time. So a short 10-20 second example may work fine, but try doing a 3-5 minute video or song.
There are issues here, that is why we keep seeing posts like this.
i have kinda similar problem but it now even happens in 2.53 which used to work fine well now when i render it the sounds comes out but a lot different on my comp atleast why is that shouldi reinstall my os or something
@Atom: what you say might be true but we cannot put the blame on the developer. Of course, this doesn’t change the fact that you cannot use Blender as a NLE on windoze. Sad but true.
I guess we need to find volunteers to help out with porting or do the actual coding ourselves.
Video (like the white preview discussed in another thread) or audio issues on windoze really p*** me off because I strive to promote Blender and foss and this is often difficult or impossible because most of my students have windoze boxes. I know Blender is still beta and I shouldn’t complain but regressing to 2.49x is not a viable option
Ah! Found it!!! Place the pointer over Soundstrip properties -> Volume and press “i” to create a “sound ipo” in the graph editor
2.56 beta works great - had to patch it for loading .mp4 from my N900 into the sequence editor though. Clip duration was calculated wrong.
I was mostly referring to the fact that it’s not as easy as it used to be in 2.49 because one has to insert a keyframe first and then manipulate the curve.
