Blender poratble: icon and splashscreen can not be modified

Hi everyone,

It used to be possible to replace the splashscreen and the icon of Blender and it was the occasion for me to provide a personalized portable version containing my blend that could then be used as an anatomy-viewer. I believe that this was the intention behind ‘Blender apps’ that has unfortunately been abandoned.

It seems that the latest versions now encoded these splashscreen and icon inside the code and that they therefore can not be changed without recompiling the program.

Did anybody bump into the same issue?
Is there a workaround?

Honestly, I don’t think most of the user base finds it to be an issue that they care about.

The “workaround” for the splash is to fork blender, change the image, and then compile.

For the icon, there are various softwares that can change it by modifying the executable.

I always try to do things that nobody cares about :confused:
That’s probably why I like so much Blender.
I had achieved to change the icon thanks to resourcehacker and find some resistance now but I’ll overcome soon or later. As for the recompiling, I’ll try to do it.
