Blender Portable?

Does Blender, in 2.79b or 2.80, support a portable version of their software for use on a USB to access? Also, curious if Blender, however slow it may be, would work on a Chromebook or something similar.

For portable version, use zip package, extract to USB and create “config” folder inside of blender version folder (next to datafiles, python & scripts folder). That’s basically it.
Note: If you wanna have same settings, startup and all that jazz, copy paste what you got on your machine & replicate the structure you find in your …\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender"version"… within single folder (package) - yes you can even have extra addons, render engines, libraries & whatnot

@pitiwazou also made a video about it

Next, to have Blender run on ARM processors, research and explore:

PS
I had it running on Samsung Galaxy Note 1, back in the days :smirk:

I’m actually using a portable version 2.79 at work now. It’s a slow on the startup but works fine otherwise.

Well, it all depends on the USB connection speed, USB stick memory speed and protection/antivirus installed…
BTW you can also have it on cloud

There’s a Windows version of 2.79b on the PortableApps site, here.

Or, you know, on the official web-site https://www.blender.org/download/Blender2.79/blender-2.79b-windows64.zip/
