Blender Render Image Textures

When i have UV wrapped my image texture in the UV image editor and applied it to my object but when i render the object is black? Any one know any obvious things that usual happen with this problem? Thanks

have you applied the image to your model in materials / textures panels? if not, see that your object has a material, go to your textures panel, add a texture channel of type ‘image’, and load the image. then in the ‘map input’ panel select ‘UV’. also, make sure there is a lamp in your scene, on the same layer as your model.
