Sorry, posted it in the wrong section (Accidentally posted it in “Tutorials”)
Hello, I’m new to this forum but I’ve been using blender for 5 months now (if you don’t include the time I was just studying it, although, I’ve used it for almost a year now if you don’t include the time I was taking a break from using Blender.)
If I’m going to rate how well I am in using Blender 3D, I could probably say I’m just average.
Anyway, I have a question… Is there any way to use the materials you applied in “Blender Render” to “Cycles” instead of going back to the beginning and applying all of the materials again? If not, will there be a chance that someday, you don’t need to reapply the textures from “Blender Render” to “Cycles” and vice versa…? Been wondering for a while why do we need to reapply the materials every time we switch from “Blender Render” ==> “Cycles” and vice versa.

No this is not possible, because cycles materials is totally different than internal materials.

Maybe this could be done…

Again because cycles and internal render can not communicate, just like you can’t use Luxrender or Yafaray materials in blender internal.
Thanks for the info. I guess it’s like Water and Oil… if we don’t have any tools to completely mix them together or something, then it can’t be help. Anyway, I found some kind of solution, you only need to disable the “Node System” of the materials in the Blender Internal, although, you might need to configure two materials in your materials, one for “Blender Internal” and another for “Cycles”.
