Blender shuts down w/ Unwrap

Hey everyone

Pretty new to Blender, but I’m following a tutorial and when I access all the vertices and then unwrap them, Blender shuts down.

My os is Windows Vista Home and I’m using Blender 2.48a

Any suggestions?

reinstall it?
i have vista and use 2.48a and ive never had a problem like that

My computer is a Gateway FX 6800 with an Intel Core i7 processor. Would you know if that has anything to do with it?
