Blender to After Effects CS5 - Exporting a maximum of elements for a Newby

I am wondering what is the best pipeline when exporting elements out of blender for use in After Effects. I have read that AE accepts RPF and OpenFX files but my Blender 2.5 does not have either. My particular concern lies with lights and flares in the Blender file that I would like to extract a seperate 2D elements as part of the final export.
