blender to gimp quick question

hi, im having trouble texturing in gimp, like, in gimp, i know that you need to have an ambient occlusion layer, then have a texture from the internet to mix it to your uv mapped ambient occlusion. my question is, how do you make the texture to be only in the gray part of the uv mapped image? i know it’s a noob question but can anyone answer? please?

hi…if i understand u correctly…
#select uv layer make a selection of the required area using lasso tool or color selection tool.
#keeping that selection active select the texture layer in the layer editor…delete.

that’s pretty much answered my question. thanks alot! btw. can i have any links on tuts about gimp and blender? direct links please? and please don’t say google it or youtube.
