Blender unstable

I’m running Blender 2.48 on Ubuntu 8.04. I downloaded and extracted blender-2.48-linux-glibc236-py25-i386. I have tried running Blender from the terminal (./blender) and from Applications>Graphics menu. Blender does start up but the window is extremely unstable. As I move the mouse, it keeps switching between other open windows…

I have got an ATI FireGL 3600 card and am using a 22" monitor…Not sure if its some thing to do with the screen resolution or the drivers…

Do you use Compiz? Try to disable it and try again.

Whats Compiz?

The 3D effects on your Desktop, calculated by your GPU.

Thanks guys,

Have reverted back to Metacity and that seems to have resolved the problem.
