Blender UV Faces Export-use material names

Would it be possible to add a feature to the “Blender UV Faces Export” script which uses “material names” in addition to an object name for the export? I group mesh selections then uv map these selections and connect these to one material. This allows me to use multiple uv maps per object for multiple selected faces. It would be easier to output a single uv map of these selections that are connected to a material name via the script.

I use Blender 2.37a for my production stuff. Has this already been done in another version of Blender like Tuhopuu?
