Blender vs Moviestorm

I suspect that animation in Blender is a lot more time consuming (but with potentially much higher quality results), but to what extent is Blender more-time consuming and harder to animate when compared to tools like Moviestorm and iClone?

How long would it take to animate a 10 minute movie?

I could animate a ten minute movie in ten minutes using Blender. It wouldn’t be very interesting, but it would be a 10-minute movie. This just shows that your question can’t be answered reasonably because it’s not specific enough.

But to give you a place to start thinking about how to refine your question, take a look at the Durian/Sintel Open Movie Project blog, which documents the production of a complex movie in the general time range you mention.
