Blender Week Day Challenge #0044 (ENTRIES CLOSED)
Welcome to the Blender Week Day Challenge #0044!

The list is made up of three organic and three inorganic topics and participants choose one of each category to model. Participants need to pick two items off the list to model (one from each category).

For examples of previous entries please see the gallery

All the models should be original. You can use any software you want as long as you use Blender somewhere in your modeling workflow. Also please state any non-blender software you have used for your model.

If you’re feeling generous why not add the models you create for this challenge to the Official Blender Model Repository and if you want to make your blend files available under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial 3.0 Unported Licence just email them to me at [email protected] and I’ll host them on the website.

Any wireframes posted will be added to the voting thread (If you don’t know how to make a wireframe check out the tutorial)

Check out the website for the full list of rules, challenge archives and all the latest news.

Note: If you post up more than one render of your model (excluding wireframes) please state which one we should use for the voting thread.
Extended Deadline: 18:00 GMT (12:00 Noon Central Time) Friday 19th September 2008

Ringed Neck Parakeet
Stinging Nettle

Bass Guitar
Pencil Pot
Rocking Chair

i think i’ll see what i can do…

okay, got lots of free time today so i banged this guy out in about 6 hours or so. i box modeled the lion, guitar, and amp, and the mane was done with the particle hair tool, the strings on the guitar and the cord were bezier curves. procedural shaded with toon shader. i used photoshop to put the title and signature onto the final image.

Here’s my attempts at a bird 'n bass

lol very cool ward!

thanks

wow your bass looks pretty dang good. how long did that take you?

I’d say about 9-10 hours in total. Quite pleased with it as I modeled it quite detailed.
I’d render a higher res shot but I’ve not got the time :frowning:

Might post it in the Wip’s forum and finish it off ?

yeah i was thinking the same thing with my lion. give him more detail and a better rig, might use him in something else later on.

Only 2 entries by the end of the first week so it’s a rollover

ward7299, Odeas: If you want to post higher res renders or fine tune your models feel free to do so. They look fantastic btw

sounds good, i’ve actually already started the tune-up process

Think i’ll have to look at getting it into a more appropriate scene now then and go for a bigger render

and here we go. much further detail.

Blue Lion.

and another pic, just so’s you can see the whole guy. i prefer to have the above one as my entry tho.

think i might call him T-Bone Sawyer. Why? I dunno. that just sounds good to me. The “T” stands for theodore.

this is the blender project that I am putting into the contest. so there http:///home/pm/Desktop/bird%20and%20cup http://bird%20and%20cuo

Damn render speeds :frowning:
Set yafray rendering before i finished work yesterday at 5pm.
Came back in this morning to find it still hadn’t finished but was still doing the fake passes.

Guess I’ll have to lower the resolution or render it in BI.

Haha ward nice improvements. He’d look great in an animation playing some mean slap bass! & Nice Twinkie!

Well after a 3-4 hour render here’s the result at a pretty low resolution.

You may notice a little something missing though!

Yup Forgot to turn on the strings layer and the bridge layer.

Gives me a chance to make some slight adjustments but it might not render in time for the deadline so we’ll see!

Well doesnt look like this render will finish in time :frowning:
Think its about a third through looking at the console n I’ve got till 5 till I have to leave.

Dang and Drat.

Please use my initial render for the challenge on this one. Maybe more luck next time!
(Edit: Yeh not finished. Needs about another hour maybe 2. Ah well!)

u must be new to blender Twinkie

Twinkie and Decription, under the file menu there is a option to save rendered image. But just cropping down the picture would help the presentation a lot, and seeing as this is a contest, that’s very important.

Hasn’t the time already expired for this? sorry I’ve never looked into the contests on here much, guess I’ll go do that now…
