Blender Wins National Award

Hey everyone,

I just thought I’d share some happy news. I’ve won an award for a 3D short created with Blender. The award was from the Canadian Agricultural Marketing Association in the category of agency self promotion.

The movie itself was my first attempt to do anything serious in Blender. For anyone interested there are only three lights used, with a lot of the lighting provided through textures and the EMIT value.

Congratulations!!!

Any weblink to the actual award page?

(Sorry, but I can’t view the anim as I’m at work…)

woo! thats awesome, im at skool, so i havent veiwed it yet either, but i cant wait to

Very cool that you got a reward and all
Watched the animation, and I gotta say its pretty cool. Has a few technical errors, such as in a few frames his feet look off the ground (unintentionally), but overall quite cleanly done :stuck_out_tongue:

Unfortunately the site hasn’t posted the winners yet. But I’ll let you know.

Their web address is www.cama.org

That’s a sweet movie, great work! I especially love the camera positions and movements. Great atmosphere and style, too.

At last : my tax dollars put at good use !

First off, congrats on winning the contest!

But I come not without crits

  1. The Camera movements were excessive (to my taste) and very CGish. IMHO, the camera in the digital 3D world should be treated like a regular camera (in many cases anyway)
  2. Some of the animation seemed a little stiff and long (namely, the ‘fairy’ sequence)

All in all tho, it was very nicely done.

Good jobs, I’m happy for you.

Was this award presented in Guelph?

The awards are held in a different city every year. It was Calgary this time.
