THIS REALLY SUCKS…:(…my school has blocked all blender related sites using this thing called sonic wall…i think blocking it was a stupid idea….wat harm can BA do…is there anyway to bypass this thing…
Didn’t you mention something about drawing robots during history class to show to the folks here at BA? Perhaps someone found out? Maybe an administrator noticed too many kids gathered around your monitor while you were perusing one of the “Female (nudity)” threads and discovered which site you were visiting? Just sayin’.
Being the administrator of a SonicWall myself, there are a few things you can try. 1: If it’s an older SonicWall, you can try using a web proxy site. I had some users here getting around our blocked sites this way (Untill I caught them!) 2: Try using AOL. If you log into AOL and user their web browser, most firewalls will see the web traffic as AOL traffic and not block it. I still have that problem here. 3. If you feel adventurous (and brave) you can try logging into the SonicWall and Unblock it. The default user name is admin. As for the password… well… that’s something you’ll have to find.
orinocco:har har very funny…
50nlt:lol i don’t have AOL…well the sonic wall is not based in my school…the location is at the ministry of education of the town i live in…yea proxies could work bout they are abit slow…ideas keep em coming…
lol to bad these things cant be disabled from the servises menu enymore… my old school had some child block as well… to bad i knew how to disable it
ha wish i could do that…
My school’s firewall is crap… they tried to block just about everything, but the only blocked places are Gvideo, Youtube, Myspace(no sorrow there though) and a few random sites. you can still use proxies, and probably can just disable it easily. However, the computers rely on Novell Client (also crap, I have found), so there’s not much you can do on the computers; even starting them up literally takes 20 minutes. They’re not even bad computers, too, which is a shame.
Try Project Bypass, It may work if they havn’t blocked that too. There’s also a few other sites like it too.
I think there’s also a few bypassing browsers out there but I’m not sure
shame your school doesnt understand BA. While they do allow access to some disturbing sites no doubt.
I mean I bet those MAX and MAYA sites arent blocked… are they?
Who’s paying those free max licences?
ya, my school blocks my own webpage, kind of annoying, but I also know how to unblock it, at least in IE. They block the internet options but for some reason you can goto view privacy report, then go to settings it brings you their. Then you can turn off some of the lan settings( when you uncheck the box that tells it to use a proxy server) it will unblock everything. I don’t think this will work in your case though because of the software used.
wat do u mean…is it like a proxy??
I proxy may work, but most of the Newer SonicWalls (like the one I administer) can block proxies as well. Good luck.
That should resolve your problem. Set up your own proxy server at home and access it from school using your IP address. It shouldnt be blocked by any software (assuming of course the software is blacklist software which most internet blocking software is)
If you have a problem setting up your own proxy server you can go online and search for CGI proxy sites and hopefully you’ll find one that’s not blocked by your school.
hahahahahaha…mmmha…ha…ha…ok. i’m posting this from my school’s java room!!! no proxy needed:p
elysiun.com is blocked at my school by a program called BESS, but typing www.blenderartists.org/forum lets me get by
meh i just use vtunnel these days…it ain that bad its only abit slower than without one…but if there is a way to disable it i would be more than willing to take advice…
My school uses the extremely annoying RM Filter List.
They haven’t yet filtered Blender websites. But to get around most Filter programs all you need is the IP address of the server.
Theres a few websites like:
http://www.selfseo.com/find_ip_address_of_a_website.php
http://www.urgentclick.com/ip_address_lookup.php
http://centralops.net/co/
However when I did this with BlenderArtist I got this lovely page: http://213.222.11.138
So it can sometimes not go as planned.
You could also do it the legit way… contact the administrator, ask why its blocked, and request it to be unblocked…
did you read my commetns before…well you should…first of all i do not know who the administator is…but it is the board of education of the town i live in whom is blocking all of this…well when it is blocked it says…reason:software downloads…so i guess they think that people might download stuff at school…sooo…do u understand now…
