I agree with that, although it has improved.
The immature postings have gone down, a little. It won’t be easy moderating this forum though and I often feel bad for guys like Fligh who have to deal with all the crap. I personally think there should be a donation page (Not sure if there is one already somewhere?) were users can donate money to BA and the mods can be rewarded for the time spent sorting out immature posts and spam on here.

I have a topic called “topic for professionals” - it closed in one hour as I remember.
I think this is not the problem of this forum - this is the problem of Blender: there is many-many-many amateurs who dont want to make good or professional things - they only just playing with Blender… They wants many-many-many features - but they just only playing with them.
I think a professional 3d user thinks: Blender is good but only the official developers can make good things with it (BB, Sintel, ED). Other users can make only test things…
there should be a section in this forum where you have to pay lets say £/$ 5-10 flat fee for a Premiere acount and this section will be for people to talk about stuff if they want to have a mature talk and I think people who are serious about blender will sign up for it and they could use the money to do greater stuff like pay the Mods or for another project. I don’t thing people who are just using it for fun will be paying that money and if they do pay and F*ck about there too then they will get banned and will loose there money.
Having something like CGsocieties portfolio page would be good, you pay for the server space and a few other perks as well as getting access to the private forums.
To be honest the private forums suck, not many people use them, but that’s because the normal forums are ruled with an iron fist, this can be quite annoying sometimes, but I see why they do it.
Anyway, so paying a subscription fee which helps the mods and of course would pay for a service, which perhaps would allow video and image uploads for a paying user which acts as an online portfolio would be a good thing.

yes the only time people in here a being stupid is if some one wants to creat the next big thing (an MMO, a company and he/she want to be the lead manager, a company of modellers, animators working for free) lol
I remember back in the day the AWN forums were just brutal! But, realistically, forums are forums, as in places of discussion, and you aren’t always surrounded by like minded peers. Just remember one simple rule: it’s nearly impossible change anyone’s mind.
It would be interesting (at least as an experiment) to have a digg/xbox like system for users. Users could be voted up or down based on their behavior. Then when someone starts a new thread they could set a rating limit and only users with at least that rating could post in it. This would both get rid of people who are reoccurring offenders from a thread you create and incentivize users to be more civilized because it allows them more interaction, and because they don’t want there rating to make them look like a jerk.
Of course a system like this could be gamed, but there are methods to help prevent that, and it’s probably easier to just not be a jerk 
I generally agree with the topic of the thread… sincerely, I almost stopped coming here since I realized not many real users come here and those which do get disappointed quite easily.
This happens in any community. Name one community that doesn’t have hooligans and children playing it’s part of life. Blender may be used by everyone so you have to expect that there will be some people that just not going to go with the flow.
Restricting access wont solve anyones problems. It never works. The best solution in any community is pier pressure. If there are enough people show good behavior and condemn bad behavior then individuals feel more pressure to conform to the standards of the society and tend to follow along. If however the mature among us leave or even worse keep shut up then the children will tend to just follow what feels good to them and things will just get worse.
But this is true of any society not just a forum. As Edmund Burke once said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” So it’s getting bad then it’s the fault of the good for doing nothing.
One way to improve the look and feel is to have a real banner with at least 5 images that get updated with nice renders. I’ve seen to many great works in the finished projects that never get the attention needed. Once a month the banner is changed, and that with some weird taste. Elephants dream was in 2004, time to move on. More diversity.
Featured artwork hasn’t changed for 6 months or so.
Blender headlines needs more attention also.
It would be nice if the good artists good more pad on the back and maybe they wouldn’t escape.
The implications of this would be great I agree. Unfortunately, a practical implementation is quite doubtful as there are many resistant to change, and competition of the same resource (time/money etc) is just too great in my opinion. The business model of blender development has appeared to be a sucess, and no doubt the many users will attest to this.

Yep.
I know other women who use Blender, but I haven’t found any of them here. I wonder why. 
Of course, most of those I know are using the engine for modeling for export (to game engines or Poser and DAZ Studio or both), and true Blenderheads apparently don’t want to hear that.
