I took up Weirdhat’s suggestion and re-rigged Lyubomir’s Blendo model in 2.40. I haven’t added any new features yet (like degrees of freedom for joints, or facial expressions).
Here are some example poses:
Unfortunately I haven’t got any place to upload the .blend file.
Of course Lyubomir’s original rig still works - it can just be done simpler now, without Null bones (if anyone is interested I’m happy to update his arm/leg rigging tutorials for Blender 2.40 on Wiki).

Please do - and if you could explain the benefits and pitfalls of the various IK options, that woud be nice too. Is targetless better/worse than targeted IK and when would we use Auto IK?
Also, on the Blender Conference videos, the guy who did the armature presentation suggests a different way of building the foot IK. In his method, the bones lie together, one inside the other. He says it’s better this way - but why? (He may have explained it but I couldn’t get enough volume and the audio noise was louder than some of the speech). The orange shape keys character on blender.org uses this setup I think.
You could also introduce us to the new Floor constraint and the somewhat confusing Stride feature (I read the explanation and looked at the videos but they left me more confused ).
Also, I often see “discussions” about whether an arm/hand should be FK or IK and I’m sure some suggest a combiniation. But how do you combine both in one chain? Is it just a matter of turning the IK influence down or what?
I have to agree with WeirdHat as to putting quality, general-purpose tutorials on the main Blender site where people can find them rather than all over the Net. Of course more specialized tutorials, especially relating to scripts, should probably be kept at a different location, maybe with a link from Blender.org.
I made a movie intro with blendo. He runs in from the right side of the screen, skids to a stop, and then the blender logo and the tex “made in Blender” falls from the top of the screen and crushes him. but then he sticks a thumbs up from underneath it. It’s funny, but I lost the file when I restored my compy.
