I’m aware of sapling tree addon but I would like to use this method in B 2.78.
Do you know how to remake it in B 2.78 ?
AFAIK the scripts used in this tutorial do only work in Blender 2.49.
So, there actually is no way to recreate that tutorial in later versions of Blender.
What you can always do, of course, is to get a zipped version of Blender 2.49, create the geometry there, save the file and open it in 2.78 to do the shading/rendering.
