Blenderkit Corrupted a file - Can it be recovered?

I had a freeze while adding textures to a project using Blenderkit. Blender just froze. I waited 30 min and nothing so I forced Blender closed. I can no longer access that file. Every time I go to open it, Blender just quits… shuts down, closes…

Is there any way to recover this file? This is 4 days of work lost if not. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I really hope there is a fix for this. If not, people should be aware that you can lose all your work if this happens to you too.

Try to append (Fie → Append…) the content of the file into a new scene…

(Don’t you think it’s maybe somekind overhast or unproven claim to accuse this addon all alone… maybe your scene already has some problems…)

And what excactly may this be ??..

…Working on any computer file? Experience any failure in the OS or the hardware ?..

Of course i can understand your excitement…

But again this makes me wonder: never saved anything in 4 days ??? Just put the computer to sleep with the same file opened all the time… ???

Sounds like I ruffled some feathers… Ooops!

Um… Let’s see… I was working on the project. I was adding a texture from Blenderkit… it froze. Since everything was fine up until that point… The assumption is justified.

How many saves should I have? I have 1 project, one save. It was saved until it was opened to work on. After the freeze… the file became useless. Open for 4 days… wow! LMAO!

This would exactly be… that a file can become unusable, corrupt, from this plugin. Unlike a hardware crash or an OS freeze… most of the time you can recover the data, or at least open the file. However this blender file WILL NOT open, blender just shuts down when opening. I cannot even use the recover feature in Blender… same results, Blender just shuts down.

Case and point - I have uninstalled Blenderkit and was able to open my file once the file was no longer looking for what it was looking for in Blenderkit to make it freeze/crash. (it took a couple of times but it finally opened) So yes, it was the plugin that did this… sorry if you are a fan or the developer… but this DID happen. At least I got my work back… minus a few hours.

I am not saying this is a bad plugin… I have used it many times… however, this one time it was having issues. At least the uninstall worked to get my project back.

Dito. ??

In 4 days ?? …

I don’t even use it…

Okay you won.

Just wanted to recover my work… nothing more.

Have a great day! :+1:

…so everthign is fine now…
Happy blending…

(And i didn’t think of : try to disable the addon … so we both learnt something today )
