I have decided to turn blenderprojects.com into a more private and exclusive club.
We will have a front end site for visitors. Here they can view the forum, look at image galleries and check out each projects page. We will also have a “how we do it” page showing videos of our processes.
On the back end, members will have access to ftp upload, forum posting, image upload and hosting, access to our new render machines. They will also be able to submit news articles.
We will also be sending invitations to people we think will be a good addition to the teams.
This is not an open membership anymore. Rules will apply. After 3 months of non use and no post telling us of your absence your account will be deleted. I will be deleting all members with 0 post count as of today, also members who have 0 activity for 6 months.
All others will remain.
I am very excited and I think this will give us a better team.
Interesting so no new members? Delete current members? I can understand your point, with spam bots and the like, but how will you encourage new members later down the track to join? Will be fee based admission or only if you like the person ? Or word of mouth you notice their work on say Blenderartists forums then see if they accept?
Good luck and I truly do understand why you have to make such a decision, just from what you’ve described there doesn’t seem to be any room for growth, thus the question, why have a forum?Maybe I misunderstand what you wrote, anywho, Sad but Good luck!

Just forget what I just wrote about admissions, I just reread what you said:o I feel kind of stupid… Oh well once again good luck.
i think its fair, you cannot compare it to a standard forum becuase blenderprojects offers a lot more like the upload of files/ IRC/ ““render machines””. also its a blender projects site.
but im staying out of this, because i dont know everything that is planned. yet :eyebrowlift:
I think that it was necessary…
I have had no much time to spend on blenderprojects recently, but I agree that spams have reached an incredibly high number in a close past.
There were tens and tens of “fake users” only posting avertisements for sites selling products like medecine or including links pointing to porn websites.
It was very difficult to get rid of them, and checking each post in depth was a big waste of time.
As hosting posts with this kind of contents is illegal, I perfectly understand that Enriq has had no other choice than putting some fences around the site…

So, I think that this project is on as the web site is off today.
=> Good Luck for your team.
Just a little question :
I used the Calvin page currently because there were good examples on animations.
Do you plan to make it public or private ?
Enriqolonius good to see you guys giving yourselves some respect. Crosswalk project, yeah I remember that, you were the nice guys who gave away all those free city blend files. Thanks for that, I learnt a lot. You’re the best Enriqolonius!
If I can be honest for a moment, the reason why the Crosswalk project stalled/ or lost momentum is that too much time was spent building the city buildings and not enough time in bringing the characters to life. Concentrate on no more than 3-5 fully articulate characters and you got yourself a movie! Lights, camera, action!
But look on the bright side Enriqolonius, Blender animators have improved a lot this past year, I think you’ll get the new project off the ground in no time. Bon chance!
