This is great work.

  • The hair meeting the head is kind of killed by some kind of fake AO shading.
  • Skin is waxy though I’m sure you’re working on it (spec and bump for pores-of the skin detail)
  • The edges of the eye seem to float over the eyeball. I’m thinking it could be how the eye whites are shaded.

…but yeah, this one’s pretty fantastic. Nice going.

Thanks for the comments Lancer
I think one of the reasons with the hair is that the SSS is Blurring the shadow and is making a weird AO look.

I still fighting with the eyes.

damn this is awesome !
keep up the great work

The forehead looks flat…
…that is all I have, fantastic work!

Thanks everybody for the comment ,I did a Small update to the Hair I remove some hair to the forehead and low down the SSS, I need more time to prepare a better bump map an try to improve the Skin Shading to play with more options.

By the way
I really have a Hard time Figuring out the best option of shadows casting for the hair, Using a Spot light with Shadow bufer with Strand on on particles settings that don’t create any self shadows, or leaving it without that option that create like self shadowing to the hair but leave a Weir AO over the head but looks a bit more realistic.
Is there away to Improve the hair shadows.
Mabey you guys know a better solution.
Sorry about my Bad English I hope you understand what am trying to say.

With all the AO kind of stuff… why not bake it as a UV texture to reapply when the hair is in place?

I find area lamps with raytraced shadows give the nicest results with hair if you don’t mind the render time. Otherwise using deep shadow maps with 2.5 is probably the best option I would guess.

Thanks for the tips
ben I will try your Suggestion.

Ok here is my new update I add some hair to the face and change the tone of the skin and Tweak the specular and the bump I hope you liked.

I forgot am testing backgrounds here is the red carpet kind of thing mabey I will replace it with blender Logo.

It is done in 2.51 okay ha ha, I thought wow amazing …similar settings to my hair render.
As my tests are done in 2.49 and close to the original hair set up from 2.43 mmm not much changed really for anyone just little alterations. I like it though it fits your model, best of luck with winning!

Nice ! The hair is a little too mutch transclucancy. The specular on the eye is too large. Sorry for my poor english.

Thanks for comments again here is another update I tone down the Specular in the Hair a bit and the eyes an fix the crazy hairs.

nice work! i liked the hair, the beard is hair too right?
i think the forehead it’s much…

fixing* i think the forehead it’s much red…

This is a nice work. Is not easy to get good / natural looking results with hair, and you managed to make the hair roots look well too.
The roots at the front look better than the roots at the sides. The ones at the sides still look a bit thick. But is just a minor detail.

The thing that is a bit more noticeable is the skin above the eyebrows, it seems lighter than the rest of the skin. Not sure if it’s just the lighting setup or if it’s a problem with the texture.

But great job!
