Blending without a number pad

(beergeek) #1

Hello all, I am new to blender and today I was trying to play around with blender in the airport. Now like most laptops I don’t have a number pad. It has the number pad compatability mode thingy that turns the right half of the keyboard into a number pad, but that is right out because you lose half of your keyboard. Is there some way to change views without using the number pad (or the menu  ), or some sort of mode that turns the regular numbers into the number pad keys?

Thanks!

sadly, I don’t think there is, so you’re bound to either use an external numpad, use the numpad compatibility thingy or use the buttons/menu.

i could turn the regular numbers to numpad numbers by switching on
the noNumpad button in the settings window of Blender.
drag down the splitter below the menu to see the settings.

Just what I was looking for! Thanks so much. Wow. I never knew that stuff was up there. Lots of cool things there.

Use the view buttons (to the right of the layer buttons) in the header. Mousing over them will tell you which button does what (at least in 2.25).

i click /shift-click them.
i don’t use layers very mutch. so i don’t use shortcuts for layers.
