Blenrig pose and rest position inconsistency with mesh deform error

It’s a bit hard to describe the issue I’m having. The first is that the mesh deform cage appears to be deforming the model regardless of whether or not the armature is in pose or rest position, but I’m pretty sure that will go away if I unbind and rebind it.

The other issue is that there’s inconsistency between the rest and pose positions for the armature itself even with constraints being reset and the armature being baked, which I believe to be caused by IK targets being in weird positions. That’s proving oddly difficult to fix and based on my understanding baking the rig and running a few operations should have resolved that. Does anyone who has experience with this addon have any idea what might be going on?
