Blinding Flash

Using Blender 2.93 and my project is in Cycles.

Im trying to do a blinding flash that occurs in the middle of an explosion. As in the screenshot.

Is anyone able to help? Cannot get anything to look right.

that example looks like its using an anamorphic lens flare. The best way to do this would be with the compositor, but if you’re determined to do it “in-camera”, you can use an animated emissive material with a very high brightness, and then dial the glare node off that (…in the compositor), but at least then you could animate it in the timeline, instead of another application.
