Bloom disappeared in Eevee (Blender 4.2.5, macOS)

On my systems:

  • iMac 2019 (Intel i5, Radeon Pro 570X, macOS Sequoia 15.6.1) → Bloom worked in Eevee up to 4.1. In 4.2.5 it disappeared.

  • MacBook Air 2020 (Apple M1, macOS Sequoia 15.6.1) → No Bloom option.

  • Mac Mini 2023 (Apple M2, macOS Sequoia 15.6.1) → No Bloom option.

I understand that Bloom has now been moved out of Eevee and replaced by Glare in the Compositor.

The reason I’m asking: I rely on Bloom in the viewport because I have low vision.
Real-time glow for emission and glare is much easier for me to see when working in Eevee.
Using the Compositor makes it hard for me, since I must keep re-checking renders, which is not accessible or practical.

Questions:

  1. Why was Bloom fully removed from Eevee viewport on macOS?
  2. Can Bloom be added back (or an alternative provided) for accessibility?
  3. Is Glare in the Compositor the only replacement, or can we get a viewport option again?

I noticed Bloom still worked in Blender 4.1 but not in 4.2+.

Thank you for clarifying.
