I tried to mix manga style (high forehead, sinuous shapes) with kind of realistic style some where.
So, the project takes my free time for about 1 week work in total, spread in 1 month.
About 3 days for the model, and the rest of the time for posing (really annoyng), rendering and compositing.
This is a really great model I like it very much, the proportions the style including the texturing used on the suit the only thing I find a bit odd are the eyes they seam to be bulging perhaps a bit low/round/bright.
Hair line and skin materials really do let this down. Modelling looks good though.
Freemind, you can get ātan in a bottleā or a spray boothā¦ both very popular.
Mmaxx, itās a bit cheeky to do such a tall attachmentā¦ looks like a cynical attempt to max out your row size in the forumā¦
If everyone did it the forums would be horrible to navigateā¦
Whether stylised or not, the skin looks like plastic which lets down the imageā¦
It could well just be the lighting but skin that shades to black never looks appealingā¦
No one looks at this and says the skin looks badā¦ and no one ever thinks that it looks like realityā¦
But actually the skin shader used in UP is quite realistic in how it responds to lightā¦ just the textures used make it simplified and stylised (oh and the heavy caricature in the characters)
I donāt know. Personally, I like the suit a lot and I think sheās got some sexitude.
If youāre going for hyper-realistic, you might try out Cycles (Iām starting to sound like a real converted-evangelist about it, huh?)
But if youāre after a more stylized look, this is pretty good.
Not everyone wants their characters to fool an audience into thinking those are actual people.
The Clone Wars has very stylized characters, and Lucas and the director said that was an early conscious decision. They said they wanted to stay away from realistic-looking characters, since they felt that that was what every animated show would be doing soon. So their Clone Wars characters still look like anime (or something.)
Personally, I donāt like the way the Clone Wars characters look and I feel they goofed on that one. Lucas Animation could have made characters for their show that looked so close to the real actors that you would have felt you were simply watching Star Wars.
Then again, Iāll let you know just as soon as my bank account rivals that of Lucasfilm. Any day now, Iām sureā¦
Nice work on Blue Submarine. I hope youāll keep working on it and use her in a larger animated project. Iād watch.
Great character I like her face and hair. I just think the blue part of the suit/hands could use some definition, it does not seem to fit the contours of her body well. Has a blocky appearance to it which I think takes away from her feminine nature.
