Hi,
I try to model a car in Blender. So I researched for blueprints anf found the page the-blueprints.com. There also is a tutorial for setting bps. I followed the instructions and now I have a problem as you can see in the picture…
Resizing is not the problem. Büggi’s problem is that the orientation of his background images don’t match the orientation of his 3D windows.
In the front and rear views, z axis is up, and the x axis points toward the driver’s side of the car. In the top view, the z axis still points up, but now the x axis points toward the rear of the car, and the y axis points toward the passenger side (ie: the -y axis points to the driver’s side.) In the “problem” viewport, the z axis still points up, but now the y axis points toward the rear of the car.
The simplest fix is to rotate the top view (in some 2D program, I usually use Irfanview for quick fixes like this) so the y axis points to the rear of the car. That will get the axes aligned in all four views. If the size of the image is off, you can use blender’s view background image size parameter to fix it, but the background image panel doesn’t have a rotate image setting.
There’s some great stuff in the latest (Version 8) BlenderArt Magazine: http://www.blenderart.org/
If you look around page 50 - 51, you should find some interesting information.
