These 2 models (the car and the girl) are my first projects since I switched to Blender 3D a few months ago.
Originally I was supposed to model only the car for a friend of mine who has the same BMW. But later I decided to add something else for my own pleasure too (I’m not a big fan of interior and car designs).
So, here it is. To me this is not finished (I’m sure you can notice the imperfections) but it kinda looks like it is, so might as well share it.
Everything is done in Blender 2.5. Even the rendering is done with the internal engine. Some post-processing in Photoshop to better blend the models with the BG.
For some reason the link points to the whole 3D gallery. While you’re there you might as well take a look at the projects rendered separately (the first 2 images).
Oh yeah, forgot to say some comments would be nice too.
#BMW M3 High Ground:
The car render is quite good. except for the hdr. The reflections on the car are inconsistent with the background. There are leaves/vegetation reflected on the windows whereas the car seems to have been parked at quite some height atop a building I presume. The headlamp needs more transparency and some Fresnel bumps - it is looking flat. Also the reflections seem to break along the windscreen and the hood; almost flipped reflections. I suggest you change the background to image similar to the hdr you are using.
#Auto show
The renders are cool. Adding an auto expo kind of look with backgrounds will be interesting. Here you could use a railing to make it look kind of an exhibit.
Slick
Actually this post was about the red BMW. All the ones before that were done in Maya back when I was learning it. You might say they’re obsolete now.
The issue about the background does come up quite often. Perhaps the best solution would be to build a whole 3D environment. That way the reflections would be perfectly consistent with the background and all. I’ll look into integrating the car(and the girl, maybe) into one of my new project’s environment.
The Red BMW is quite good. I was just imagining how the model with the girl will look atop a rotating display platform having spot lights all around.
Nice work.
Yeah, I could tweak (replace) the HDR image but putting it in a 3D environment feels more natural than trying to integrate into a 2D image. Although… a rotating platform does sound very attractive too.
I’ll try to produce a new image by next weak (I kinda got my hands full with something else now).
