I made this more as an expression of feelings than an important model - am thinking about adding more to the background maybe to make it more of a scene but not happy about the bloody puddle.
Suggestions anyone?
First off, I think the blood is way too speccy and the material needs to be worked a lot.
The lighting needs work as the shadow is black and the handle is not lit.
I like the metal material though.

Thanks for the pointers Neo. I am sticking with the awkward lighting for now as it helps to focus attention on the blade/blood juxtaposition.
