Bonechain rotations

Can anyone tell me how to build a chain of bones that does not swivel each bone out of alignment on creation? The axis seem to be all over the place when I check them.

That solve that problem.

nope it don’t, that what happens to grsaaynoel its not when u create it, its when u press clear bone rotation, it happened to me too, the only way i found was clear bone rotation to each bone haha xD

Yep, that works and you can do it on a selection of bones at once.
control+N for those of you looking for it. It’s weird that it doesn’t do it automatically

Thanks

works for me, make sure align to view is set before creation, then all should be good. seems to be messed up in front view only

This is because the armature is coded with the Y as the “up” axis (like Maya or Max) while Blender’s 3D view port/navigation hotkeys us the Z as the “up” … If you reproduce your example with “Align to View” turned on in the Edit Methods and do it in the top view you won’t have to Ctrl-N to recalculate the bone roll …

having to switch “Align to View” on and off as you work is a pain. I’d rather hit Crtl-N instead. It’s also something that works post building the chain versus having to remember to turn it on before you build. Either way is fine and up to the artist I guess.

Hi,

I’ve just finished working on an attempt to fix this problem. Hopefully you can manage to find/make a build of the AnimSys2 branch to see test my fix.

Link to commit log - the indicated revision should have the fix…

Sounds fantastic Aligorith.

I can see a build on graphicall but I’ll have to wait till a Windows version comes along before I can play. Time to build a Ubuntu box methinks

Thanks
