I am in solid mode but bones still appear transparent. This happens in edit and pose mode. Object mode is fine. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks for any tips!
Hi magpie,
It was set to âTexturedâ but when I set it to âSolidâ it didnât make any difference.
I can live with it this way. The tutorial I am using as a guide doesnât look like this but he is using Blender 3.6. Maybe it was changed since then. I am using 4.2.1.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
Bones have their own secret X-Ray mode, which is annoying, switch to pose mode and press Alt Z
I finally found out whatâs going on.
Thanks guys for sharing your understanding. Iâve been struggling with that for a while, but never had patience to address it properly.
Iâm pretty sure it is an UI inconsistency, but not a bug.
When the Armature Object has got Properties Editor > Object > Viewport Display > Displays As: Solid or Texture; and we try to use X-Ray Option, the issues will happen on Pose Mode, for the following Shading Viewport: Solid, Material Display, Rendered.
But it can be solved (adjusted) if you are in Wireframe (Shading Viewport), and go to Overlays Context Menu, and reduce Bone Wireframe Opacity Option lesser than 1.00 (for having X-Ray); or set it to 1.00 instead to have full Opacity.
The inconsistency, is that such fundamental Option, only shows, when we are on Wireframe. It should appear for all 4 types of Viewport Shading I think. If the user donât go on Wireframe, there is no possibility to adjust the Bonesâs Opacity; but since the Boneâs Opacity issue occurs on the other 3 Viewport Shadings, why would the user go exactly to the Wireframe Viewport Shading (the only 1 that doesnât suffer from it!) to be able to solve the Opacity issue for the other 3?
EDIT: It is worse than I thought.
There is actually an additional issue in the UI.
Even with properly adjusted Bone Wireframe Opacity for Wireframe,
the X-Ray Toggle Button, while on Pose Mode, is behaving fakely.
It doesnât work. The user needs to always Tab back to Edit Mode or Object Mode, for example, just in order to Toggle X-Ray properly.
So, 2 related problems on the same subject I guess. ![]()
Please, help report!
Thanks for the replies. Alt+Z didnât seem to change anything.
Welcome.
Indeed. Toggle X-Ray Option [ Ctrl+Z ] is not working on Pose Mode (the Toggling must be done on Edit Mode or Object Mode.
Iâll make a Bug Report about this and the other findings.
But seems like I just cannot entirely reproduce the way your Skeleton is Displaying on my Blender version (4.2.1) no matter what I try. On your screenshots, there is something really different about the wireframing of the Bones: not only they arenât showing Opaque, but also, almost every single âedgeâ of the structure of the Bone is showing as a line!! It is not like this is my UI, only the outer contour or the Bone is traced as lines as well as the small circles/balls corresponding to Head and Tail. I guess this might be from an older Blender version maybe, or perhaps some graphic cards thing?
Well, anyways, at least we should know it is possible to properly Toggle X-Ray outside of Pose Mode, then come back to Pose Mode (as annoying as this is, I just got used to this issue over time).
PS: What I believe happened to you there, is that you are âstuckâ on Pose Mode with Enabled X-Ray (but you can only Disabled it, for real, on Edit/Object Mode); so the only way out would be: to go to Edit Mode or Object Mode, Toggle X-Ray (Disable it), then turn back to Pose Mode. Note: It doesnât really matter the state of the X-Ray Button (on/off) while on Pose Mode.
Thanks Pxy-Gnomes
Hey, folks;
Iâve made the Bug Report, but it already existed.
So here is the big thread about it.
Please, help with more evidence if you can.
This seems to be a pretty confusing issue!
Thanks!
