Bones only move and mirror one side of Character

I’ve created a man in Blender and rigged him, however when it comes to moving the bones with the arms and legs, only one side of the bones wants to move, with the other side lifting out of place.

I have a mirror modifier applied to the character so the paint weights also mirror each arm and leg, no matter if I try painting them separately, the main body is ok, so I suspect it might be a problem with my mirror modifier applied, is their any way I can cancel the mirror modifier or make some kind of change so the arms and legs move independently of each other? The bones have all being named independently so there’s no issue with that too.

Below is a picture my example, I’d like to upload the file but I can’t send any attachments, Thank you for any help received! This is for a short animated film with a deadline at the end of November, so I would really appreciate getting this sorted quick before moving to animation! - Gemma

Post your blend file to pasteall.org/blend then post the link here for us to look at.

Cheers, Clock.

Hello, here’s the link to the file http://pasteall.org/blend/index.php?id=50586 , hope the link works and thanks for your help!

You just need to rename right\left bones - just add suffix .R to your right and .L to left bones. So your right hand bone should have such name - ‘hand.R’ and left bone ‘hand.L’. Here is your blend with fixed names - both sides of your model is working. Hope this will help you. :slight_smile:BoyRig6 (renamed bones).blend (935.5 KB)
