Book Illustrations

My father wrote a book recently, which we’re in the process of trying to promote, called, “Red Dog’s Guide to Money.” It’s aimed at people with little or no money management experience, and covers many things, like how to get through college without loosing your ass financially.

Red Dog is a nickname that he had in college (LONG before Red Dog Beer) and we’ve come up a mascot for use in illustrations. These images will feature Red Dog in a variety of situations that pertain to sections of the book. For example, the section on float (the idea of writing a check today that will be covered by money you’re depositing tomorrow, counting on the deposit going through before the check is cashed) will have Red Dog sitting in a row boat. You know, “floating”.

Below is an image put together for some t-shirts we had made (scaled down, the render was 3000x4000). I’m primarily looking for opinions and C&C on the character. I didn’t add fur because I was going more for the slightly fuzzy plush look that a real dog. I’m also aware the wood texture on the sign isn’t what it could be.

What do you think?
