I just finished modeling this DG58 but when I try to import it into substance painter to add textures, I encounter with a wierd problem when the holes that I made with BoolTool just simply dont work, or if they do, they work horribly.
All normals are facing the correct way.
This almost looks like there is any hidden topology also exported… because applied results of any boolean operation can not change after export…
…and also as far as i know: SP likes tris more than quads… ??
how can i fix it?
Apply your Boolean modifiers before export, then in edit mode, use the Triangulate Faces operator (F3 → Tri brings it up)
triangulating worked for me
You should always be triangulating any mesh that you are going to bake normal maps for. If you don’t triangulate then Painter or UE or Marmoset or wherever will use it’s own auto-triangulation on import. You can use a modifier in Blender to keep it non-destructive.
How did you unwrap this is the booleans weren’t applied?
But i dont have to apply it before exporting?
Painter expects UVs so how are you exporting it with proper UVs if it still has live boolean modifiers?
I mean the Tri face modifier
