Bottle filled with water

I have a bottle which is closed with a cap.

I want this bottle to be lying on floor, so obviously the liquid in it would also take a different shape

I can place sphere inside it and simulate for fluid

Larger question is how can I have control over how much the a certain size sphere should convert into what volume of liquid

Why start with a sphere, why not an object roughly the size/shape of your desired result.

For an animation or still ?

If just for a still image, why use the fluid sim ?

For still. But fluid sim because I want the bottle to be lying on ice cubes. It would be a coke bottle. So you see it would look like coke spread all over and because of absorption, the density would change and transparency would vary at points. And the effect would be realistic

Using a cylinder would fill the bottle and give more volume than a sphere

You can also duplicate your bottle object, then in edit mode scale/cut it for desired shape/volume.
