Bowling pin?

hello, i got a bit bored so i maded a bowling pin. :stuck_out_tongue:

what do you think?? dos it look like a bowling pin?? what can i do to make it better or is it great lolz:no:

thanks

happy blending!! :ba:

The thin part of the pin looks a bit too long, and a bit bumpy near the top, but otherwise it looks pretty good

If you’re not sure if a real-world object looks right, nothing beats reference photos. I’m sure there are tons of pictures of bowling pins available if you Google for images (ok well maybe a couple dozen). Set one up as your background image in the 3d window and match the shape. Such an image would be useful as the start for a texture too.

LOL thats what i exactly did heres the picture i modeled

i can make all of it white but how can i put the two red lines in. :stuck_out_tongue: ( coz i have not learn that side of blender yet!:frowning: )

but im getting there

thanks all

When I need to make an object more than one colour, I often use material indices. The first thing to do is go to the object buttons (F9) and find a set of buttons in the Link and Materials tab with new, delete, select, deselect and assign. Click new, you will notice a thing above it changes from 1 mat 1 to 2 mat 2. Now go to the materials buttons and create a red material, since you can make it white I assume you know how to do this. If your whole pin turns red, go back to the objects buttons and then enter editmode. Select alll (Ctrl-A), click the arrow on the left of 2 mat 2, it will go back to 1 mat 1. Hit Assign. It should now be white again.

Still in editmode, de-select all and select the faces you want to be red. You may need to do some loopcuts (Ctrl-R) to get the correct width of the bands. With the only the red-to-be faces selected, change the material back to 2 mat 2 bu clicking the right arrow and hit assign. The selected faces should turn red and the rest will stay white.

This is one way to do it, It may or may not work, if it doesn’t you’ll probably have to use textures and I can’t help you with them.

YAY!!! i done it
