Brand new to modeling.

Ok, so a few days ago, i popped open blender and started watching a ton of tutorial videos. I made the usual stuff such as a coffee cup, a clock, a wineglass with wine, ect. I finally decided to try modeling a Lp500 but that diddnt last very long and i was left quite frustrated. Few hours later i come back and i start trying to model an xbox 360 controller. Well, here’s where im at sofar…


So i think it’s obvious i have no clue what im doing. I’m sure this very unorthodox way could work somehow, but i know it’s not the right way. So how do i do it? Are there any good tutorials that will show how to do plane modeling? I know a little bit when it comes to the shortcuts and all that, and i can easily follow a tutorial and even get slightly ahead of some, but i still have soooooooooo much to learn. Any help would be welcome.

The XBOX controller has organic curves/shapes and it is not easy for a beginner to get it right. For example, I have been learning Blender for over a year (as a hobby) and only recently I am able to model something similar to this but its not amazing or anything. What I am trying to say is keep at it, it will take time to learn and internalise the stuff. I would say, it will take atleast 1+ year for you to become good in Blender (if you practise daily).

I agree with Drawingisdead, you should download a model and study how they made theirs. Then try and do it like them. If you don’t I would suggest a BlenderCookie subscription and watch all of their modeling tutorials, they are very informative.

This is not true , I have been just 3 or 4 months and I have modeled a car and modeling a xbox controller is very easy for me to model.
