The Bristol Scout “D” was in use in WW2. I quite like it and so started making it. Here are a few images. Comments, Critiscism and general thoughts are more than welcome.
Due to it’s production early in the war, they hadn’t invented the synchronizer between gun and propeller, so any attempt to shoot would make your plane useless. As a way arround this they mounted the gun to the side of the cockpit, and instead of it pointing straight forwards they had it at an angle, so it would miss the propeller. This meant that you could shoot, but aiming was a bit of a lost cause…
The other alternative was to mount it atop the wing, and shoot over.
The gun is yet to be made.
Bombs, well again due to it’s time period and size these were things like small incendiaries that the pilot pulled out of his backpack and dropped by hand!
They will probably not be modeled.
I like the plane, but not too thrilled about the environment, even though it does kinda fit in. Maybe it is the lack of detail on the mountains?
And i am not sure what the ground is supposed to be either.
The plane is modeled well, but I also feel you need more detail on the ground and mountains. Maybe find a high-resolution ground texture you can apply to the mountains. Or maybe find a picture of a mountain range to use.
Thanks very much for your comments, and I definatly agree with them. I will fix it up tomorrow, as I can’t use blender an this PC.
Just so you know, the ground was made in about 3 minutes, and has no texture at all.
It’s just the atmosphere and sky settings on a sun lamp and the lanscape generator! quick, easy, and atmospheric, but I will go and add more detail.
I am trying to do a pilot, but he isn’t working too well. I will keep at it though.
I doubt that a plane of this era could fly fast enough to for condensation trails, but then i have little idea of how they form. I will see how they look and then decide.
Hmmm… If plane is turning, you could slightly move flaps (If i call them properly ;p) to indicate steering, maybe some birds in background… Some faint clouds?
Personally, I think smoke is always a good thing, if not for trails, this plane definetly has exhaustion gases… But it depend only on what you’re aiming for.
Or even sun setting?
Sorry for chaotic, rough ideas, but for me it’s 03:17, after midnight, and i’ve got bad headache. But still, I hope that I’ll help : )
Sun, yes, definitely
Exhaust, yes, definatly
Aileron movement, yes, after a while, not too important at the moment.
Birds, maybe
Clouds, yes.
Wow, what happened to “early to bed, early to rise, makes a child healthy wealthy and wise”???
Keep making comments, and I will keep making the image better. (sorry, next image update will probably be tomorrow, as I am a bit busy now)
