Broken Faces after making a hole with boolean modifier.

Hello everybody,

I just stared using blender and I am currently running into a problem.

I Generated my object by using a cube as a base…then I had to create a hole in the upper right…so I took another cube…made it as big as I wanted the hole to be …and then applied the boolean modifier with “Difference” …once that was done I removed the cube that I used for generating the hole.

The hole is now there, but I get additional edges that (for example) break the BEVEL function that I want to apply on this hole :frowning:

This happened to me before and I am actually creating this model a second time now…can anybody help me out here?
I added a image to show the problem

Maybe the way I generated the hole wasnt the best? …can anybody tell me how I should have done it otherwise…or can anybody tell me how to fix this situation? :frowning:

Thanks in advance!

A face cannot have a hole in it so you have to have those additional edges.

If you really need that ngon (face with >4 sides) you can inset (I) the face first to ensure a clean edge all the way round its perimeter

You can also just move those additional edges where they have less impact (connect edges with J and dissolve edges with X)

Thank you. I will give it a try. Are there any ways to create hole that dont create such edges?

When I remove the edges I loose the face…when I try to refill the face it will overlapp the hole…and I cant see the hole anymore :frowning:

As I said

Having those edges stops you from doing what ?

When I remove the edges I loose the face…when I try to refill the face it will overlapp the hole…and I cant see the hole anymore
Add the additional edges then delete the original ones

I did create additional edges and removed the vertices in-between…but still, the faces disappear…
