thank you, Honestly I prefer brown too.
although at beginning of design I assumed it, black and white.
The simple answer (to me …) is that “the architect would let the client decide.” 
Both treatments are well-done and would look equally good “in town.”

for lighting I use HDR + Sun with same direction.
and color management is AgX .
to tweak the HDRI value as I would like I use method in the attachment:

your welcome, Also I forgot to mention that for sun I use blackbody for light color, as it’s more natural.
